Grant Writer (FT)

Job Type: Full-Time


Valued member of a team that is responsible for writing grants and supporting data analysis activities to support the department mission of securing and maintaining unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects through systematically scheduled grant application and management activities. Supports direct service program staff in achieving outcomes required to satisfy funding requirements. Works with agency leadership and program staff to develop proposals that support the organization’s strategic direction.


Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:

Working knowledge of poverty issues and local philanthropic community, funding information sources, techniques and strategies.Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Strong editing skills with attention to detail. Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. Ability to deal with diverse populations of varying comprehension levels.  Strong contributor in team environments, able to monitor and meet income goals. 


Required: Bachelor’s Degree in English, business, social sciences, or related field. At least 1-year prior grant proposal writing experience, including developing proposal logic models, work plans, and budgets. 

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in English, business administration or related field. 2-4 years of grant proposal writing experience. Previous direct service or administrative work experience in non-profit settings and working in deadline-driven environments preferred. Experience with HMIS systems and reporting preferred.
