Assists the Guest Services Manager by providing leadership and oversight of daily operations to ensure the safety and welfare of guests, visitors and staff. Supervises and ensures physical environment of the shelter is free of safety/health hazards at all times. Ensures community and in-house volunteers are utilized appropriately. Coordinate and ensure emergency response from team is appropriate and timely in crisis situations or when conflict arises on property. Provides supportive services to guests in the absence of Program Staff and ensures that guests are treated with respect and dignity. Provides guidance and training to staff, coordinates staff schedules and ensures adequate coverage of shifts. Observes, evaluates and documents guest behavior and shelter activities and keeps an accurate account of all events occurring during their shift. Upholds all agency policies/procedures/house rules to staff and guests and enforces disciplinary action when necessary.
Team player with excellent leadership, ability to motivate others including strong verbal and written communication skills. At least 1 ½ years of supervisory experience and work experience in similar setting providing service to the homeless and/or disenfranchised individuals. Meet current standards for Driver Eligibility and have a valid Driver License with clean Driver Abstract. CPR/First Aid/AED and CPI certification preferred, or able to pass courses at IHS. High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Possess excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft applications including Outlook and Word. Knowledge or training in mental health/substance abuse issues. Able to communicate with diverse populations of varying comprehension levels. Available to work full-time overnights and on weekends, including holidays as needed.
