Provide support to the Agricultural program with daily tasks, maintenance of and care for equipment and tools. Supervise guests and volunteer participants with good example and pre-vocational/vocational skills training. Maintain the Rooftop Garden area, some landscaping of IHS properties that include Hale Mauliola grey water garden, Kaaahi perimeter garden and Sumner perimeter landscaping. Care for seedlings, plan for and/or rotate crops as necessary for optimum harvesting. Uphold confidentiality of persons served and plan/prioritize work appropriately.
Preferred Associate or Bachelors in agriculture. Minimum HS Diploma/GED equivalent and two years of agricultural farming/Aquaculture/Aquaponics/Hydroponics experience. Working knowledge of urban farming and agricultural methods including cultivation, weed control, seeding and planting of vegetables, fruits and other foliage. Have strong interpersonal, and communication skills. Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel.) Able to work independently and collaboratively, with ability to follow instructions, and think creatively. 20 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday. Hours may vary depending on business needs.
