At IHS, The Institute for Human Services, we know that one size does not fit all. We help identify the housing option that best serves the need. That might include rent assistance, security and utility deposit money, past-due rent and social services.
In addition, we conduct housing inspections, help furnish apartments, provide household goods, offer budgeting assistance and work with landlords and property management companies.
Permanent supportive housing programs provide rental subsidies coupled with long-term case management services to chronically homeless individuals and families with disabilities. Options include: Shelter Plus Care and Housing first. The "housing first" approach of moving people expeditiously into shelters or transitional housing without barriers or restrictions has reduced impact on public safety, health care and human services systems.
Short-term financial assistance is available to prevent at-risk individuals from losing housing or to provide recently homeless households with rapid re-housing assistance. Subsidy Programs include: Homeless Prevention, Rapid Re-Housing, Housing Placement Programs for Needy Families (TANF), Clean & Sober Transitions and Airline Relocation Assistance.
More options include: Public Housing, Senior Housing, Mental Health Group Homes, Clean & Sober Housing, Rent to Work, Section 8, Adult Residential Care Homes, Market Rental Units, Adult Foster Care Homes, HUD-VASH, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families.
