Facility Operations

We are looking for volunteers to assist with managing & upkeeping our emergency and specialty shelters. 

Shifts: Hours and Days: Minimum time commitment – 4 hours per week. Hours vary by location and your availability:

  • Women’s & Family shelter (546 Ka’aahi St): 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Mon - Sun.
  • Men’s shelter (350 Sumner St): 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Mon - Sun.

Essential Duties: General janitorial or custodial work; light office work; data entry into SAMi System, Blue House and HMIS databases; greeting and directing requests for assistance from guests or visitors either face to face over the phone, and sorting & organizing donations while disposing of unusable items. You will be interacting with the homeless, guests staying at our emergency shelters, and IHS staff.

Expectations: You must have competent and accurate computer skills, able to sort donations and arrange them appropriately in their designated area, ability to lift 25+ pounds helpful, be dependable and arrive when scheduled, comfortable working with all types of individuals and the homeless with a pleasant attitude and work well, and able to follow directions.
